I'm scared of the dark only when alarm clocks or any kind of clock has red numbers, or the red light on something. For some asinine reason I think they're red evil eyeballs of a demon. I know it's silly, because I'm a full grown adult.. It's just funny and silly though.. hahaha
i am scared of the dark and i am 22. i run inside my house and i get so freaked out if it is completely dark in my house. in fact my power went out yesterday and i cried until my bf lit a candle! for real. and i dont care if people think i am a baby because everyone is afraid of something!
im sorry, im not afraid of the dark, but u could try to use a small night-light or something like that. i used to be but i got over it and u will too. just give it time and patience. and try not to think about it too much.
i am, when my husband is gone when i go to bed. I think it's caus i used to watch scary movies as a teen..
I never am afraid of the dark unless I have just seen a scary movie.
ALL people are scared of the dark on some level or another. Its a psychological phobia bred into humanity from the very earliest ages, when there really were things that went bump and could kill you in the dark. Even today, modern predators (thieves, rapists, etc.) often attack at night. Humans are diurnal creatures, meaning we operate in the day and feel sleepy at night. So dont feel bad. When you get older, you will find that many, if not most, good things happen at night.

I was exactly the same from age 7 to 15 because my nanna died, and I thought I was going to be stabbed if i slept on my side( it sounds crazy). i was worse like nearly slept with the lights on and windows locked doors wide open. I am now 21 and I cant go into my backyard at night because of the area I live in. Believe dont feel stupid, because you will grow out of it!
sometimes it feels like there's a ghost beside my bedroom door so i have to leave some kind of light on
YOU'RE NOT ALONE. It sounds as if you feel it (or your life) is out of control. I wasn't afraid of the dark so much, but I distinctly remember, at your age, thinking I saw things in my room at night that weren't there.

It's common for young people to have these types of thoughts. I remember during a human development class, one of my professors commenting on the fact that children and teenagers having vivid nightmares and or frightening visions because brain chemistry is changing. Brain chemistry eventually stabilizes and these vision, beliefs and nightmares either stop, or become much more manageable (they are able to reason or convince themselves they are not real).

However, if these fears get in the way of living (have trouble sleeping or they make you feel alone) maybe you should talk to a school counselor. They might suggest some techniques to help you.

I'm not a counselor, but one thing that has helped me and the children I have worked with over the years is a technique called guided imagery. It will help with the feeling of helplessness that you seem to have. Write a story (don't be worried about things like grammar and the like, that's not the purpose of the story). In your story create a leprauchan that is friendly, nice and heroic, or create a character that you can identify with that is able to defeat a mean and evil leprauchan. YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF THE STORY, YOU CONTROL THE FATE OF THE LEPRAUCHAN. Every night have someone you trust read the story to you and hold your hand before you go to bed. Close your eyes and imagine the world YOU created. Do this every night and MAYBE the visions and beliefs that you have will become less and less over time.

AGAIN, if your fear of the dark worries you, please talk to someone.

Good luck, God bless.
