Has anyone who has deployed to Iraq have the same problems I do?!

Question: I am curious if the emotional numbness and dullness being deployed here has made me feel will go away. I know I have heard that you walk through a doorway when you come out here.to end up on a one way street. And you don't come back through the door. I just don't find pleasure in the things I used to. If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it. I feel like I am losing my mind!
Answers:
Maybe the things you used to enjoy no longer seem important to you, you are in a very serious situation so you are having to grow up all at once. There is no room for things that arent important to you right now because you have bigger things on your mind.

Losing interest in things we like is a sign of aging, growing up. You have been forced into it a little faster than you were ready for, so maybe thats why you feel like you are losing your mind. Youre not losing your mind man, its just manning up all at once! God bless you sir! You are now a man. A great man at that - and I thank you mr.

Sorry to hear that man. A buddy of mine guarded 'Route Irish' for a while over there and use to wake up at night back in the states trying to find his gun. Hopefully time will ease the pain. Perhaps, someone else here can be of better help?
First of all.Thanks. you have to remember.that which does not kill you makes you stronger. Man, I bet you are as strong as nails right now too. you have keep going and think of your friends and family, the ones who love you.
I could never do what you are doing.
Hi

My son came back from Iraq about 5 months ago. He started drinking very heavily. He was feeling basically like you do. You are not losing your mind. You have been through alot and you see things differently now. It took my son 5 months to realize that he needed help. He went to the Veterans Administration for help and was found to be suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Now he is getting counseling. If you are out of the military, medical is free for you for two years after you come back from Iraq. You can also get on disability if you have PTSD. Good luck to you and may God bless you!
