Cardio is important to any work-out where you plan to lose weight. AT LEAST 30 minutes a day.

As far as your concerns of loosing the gains your trying to make, rest assured, your cardio with your weight lifting routine will give you what you want. You will build up your muscle while sucking back the fat just as you want.

Keep up the hard work, I'm sure your doing great.
I do both at the same time. Keep in mind doing it like this will only let you gain muscle at half the rate of a bulking plan. You'll get lean though.

Right now I eat 60 carbs a day, pay no attention to calories and get 1 gram of protein or more per pound of bodyweight. It is probably better to go lower with the carbs. I built just fine with less.

I do very little cardio, just 1 20 minute session per week. I do high intensity interval training 3 days a week and lift weights 3 days a week. I went from 255 with 135 lean to 239 with 202 lean. I'm still working on it too. I am a 5'11" endo-meso mix, a little more endo though.

cardio does take away from gains. So does going low with the calories. Low carb and HIIT will spare your muscle. If you keep your calories and protein up you can even build. I have been getting about half a pound of muscle gain per week. I used to lose more fat, but now that I am more lean, I am just losing about half a pound a week. I could eat less and lose faster, but then I wouldn't get the muscle gain.

I also take whey protein before and after lifting weights.

I am a natural amateur bodybuilder.
