who is the creator of palates, and describe what it is?!

Question:
Answers:
Joseph Pilates is the creator of pilates. He was born really weak and dedicated his life to becoming stronger. He studied and tried yoga, roman and Grecian exercises and meditation exercises to keep track and figure out what worked and what didn't. He kept detailed notes until he devised a regimen that helped him grow strong with out a bunch of bulky muscles that could be done just about anywhere. What you hear called "mat-work" in pilates are his exercises that he did to improve his strength and body balance so he could do activities like swimming and gymnastics. He was placed in a POW camp during WWII and developed routines using stationary equipment to rehabilitate injured POW's. These exercises have evolved into what is called "machine work" He trained and taught these methods until he died at age 87.

Pilates is a series (500 exercises) of strength and muscle lengthening exersizes her developed to help improve core (abdominal) strength and overall flexibility. It is based on motion control, controled breathing and stretching. His belief was that once the core was strong, the rest of the body would follow. He also believed that a flexible body, would be a difficult body to injur.

His methods were picked up by ballet dancers and gymnasit alike and the rest of the world followed suit.

Although Windsor Pilates is the name most associated with current day Pilates, they are not the creaters of it. Mari Windsor was introduced to pilates through dancing and worked on developing an order sequence for the exersizes to make it more effective. Her methods are based soley on Joesph Pilates mat work

Do you mean Pilates? Windsor Pilates I believe is the creator. It's kind of like yoga but doesn't have real difficult poses. It's a lot of stretching excercises that focus a lot on your abs. I've done it many times and really enjoy the workout. It's not a high impact workout so when you're done you aren't out of breath and sweaty, but it really helps to tone your body, stretch out your muscles and relax you. Hope this helps!
