Is it possible to get 10 caviates in 6 months? read below please?!

Question: I went to the dentist today and got a new dentist and he put a machine to my teeth and told me i had about 10 cavaties which is weird because i went to the dentist 6 months ago and my last dentist said i only had to watch out for one tooth that could be a potential cavity.
Answers:
Take a second opinion. But before you do that stand in front of a mirror with a bright light and check it out yourself. If you feel there is some sort of a cavity like pitting there then the doctor could be right. Well if so then you have a caries prone mouth. If that is the case you need to increase you brushing and flossing habits and regularly gargle after every glass of milk, tea, coffee or even aerated drinks and brush after each meal. Use flossing regularly and go for some mouthwash. Try to reduce your sugar intake and don't eat chocolates. If you eat chocolates then brush your teeth. If you are in the habit of puking after eating food to reduce your weight then the stomach acids cause cavities too. Anyway it is a very good idea to see another dentist just to be sure.
Hope this helps. All the Best.

It's possible, but if you're not sure, get a second opinion. Seems like you would really have to neglect dental hygeine to have that many.
Get a second opinion but yes it is possible.
Sounds kinda iffy to me but just get a second opinion. You may have to pay for another visit but if you are skeptical it would be worth it.
maybe the dentist you saw 6 months ago was wrong?
The machine that your dentist put to your tooth was prob. called a diagodent. It gives readings from zero and up about the prob. of decay. Some dentists decide to treat over twenty five, while others will go up to thirty. It just depends on the dentist. You will find many different opinions when it comes to dental health, which can be very frustrating. IF you are unsure it never hurts to have a second opinion. While one dentist may wait and watch a susp. area, another may jump right in and fill the tooth. There is no right or wrong answer, as dentistry is very subjective. And yes it is possible to have decay show up that was not there six months before. Brushing for two minutes is great, keep up the good work, but.. you HAVE to floss everyday. Occ. does not count. IF you are not getting that bacteria out from between your teeth everyday, then it turns into acid which causes the decay.

Yes,I know a Guy who had Braces and didnt brush his teeth and he got 12 cavities in 6months.
Your new dentist probably used a new tool called a diagnodent. It uses a laser to "read" the density of the enamel. It is more accurate than an explorer(tool used to detect decay)or an xray.It is possible to get 10 cavities in 6 mos. especially if your sugar intake has been high(esp. soft drinks)
