Any endodontist? pain in tooth without explanation. HELP!?!

Question: About 3 years ago I had an endodoncy done in one of my incisives. Everything was ok. About 3 months ago, that tooth started hurting really badly. They took some x-rays, but there where no cavities, and no abscesses, no cracked tooth, the pulp is gone, and there are no cavities in my other teeth. It hurts when I chew on something hard, or if I drink anything cold. Any idea what might be happening? Oh, one more thing, the root of that tooth isn't straight, is kind of bended to the right.
Answers:
Fractures are not always evident to dentists and cannot be seen on xrays. It is rare but incisors can actually have a very small second canal. Also does the root canal follow the curve and go all the way to the apex (end of the root) of the tooth? Endodontists have microscopes and other tools general dentistis do not have, I would go see one. It never hurts to get a second opinion and I am firm believer in sending my patients to a specialist if I dont know how to fix them.

Other Answers:
Sounds like you have sensitivity in your tooth. Sometimes citrus, whitening toothpaste/strips, or other things can cause the enamel to wear in some teeth. Sounds like you have enamel wear and it's causing sensitivity. Check with your dentist (or a new one) and find out if they can check the enamel for that tooth. Good luck!
could be a "cracked tooth" and you may need a crown or a "cap". usually these fracture lines aren't visible and the only way to diagnose is by a patient's symptoms. did you have a root canal on the tooth? if so, it should have a crown anyway, b/c the nerve is dead and the tooth isn't vital, therefore weakening and causing it to be brittle.

I would suspect Vertical fracture of the root not visible on X-ray. If you have a cap already it may be hopeless.

Had to pulled a vertically fractured tooth last month. Patient paid for the root canal, Crown and Denture to rest on this tooth($2500 discount) and because the other dentist was so embaressed he would not pull the tooth he kept sending her to the specialist to have it retreated. One specialist would not treat the tooth, because he also suspected vertical fracture and the second retreated the tooth. But the pain never went away and the infection got worse. So I pulled this tooth and sure enough it was cracked vertically.

Try a second opinion from another endodontist.
could be an incomplete root canal it happens somtimes they miss someof the nerve, but it could also be referenc epain in which another vital tooth across from it or next to it is hurting and then it feels like the one you had worked on. get a second opinion.
