Best thing that always worked for me is cinnamon, like teas. Midol never worked for me, neither any other thing so my grandmother who is so old fashioned (she still makes her own butter and soap) suggested I get cinnamon tea or natural cinnamon to boil and make a tea and add sugar, I tried it and it worked better than anything else I have ever used.

it helps to rub the spot in a circluar motion, drink plently of water and well just let it run its corse
EAT BANANAS..but don't eat more than one a day because of the high content of potassium.
try taking ibruprophin BEFORE you think you will have the cramps. drinking water, eating bananas and drinking soy milk also helps me.
drink lots of water. put a hot pad down there--it feels better. also being on birth control. I have not had any cramps since.
I don't know why, but wearing a tampon instead of a pad helps me. Also, taking an over-the-counter muscle relaxer can help.
When I start to feel like my period is about to come on, PMS, I drink lots of soy milk. There is estrogen in soy. I also work out. If I do things a week or so before my period starts, I usually don't feel too bad during it.

I also found that not eating dairy products and meat during my period keeps the cramps away.

And for some strange reason eating miso soup makes me feel better. Maybe it's the tofu in it.
sit in a tub of hot water. (as hot as you can get it)
ThermaCare makes some nice heat wraps that you can put on your stomach - they have chemicals in them that react to oxygen & get warm, and they're very thin, so you don't have to worry about carting a hot water bottle around with you, or plugging in a heat pad. They fit very nicely under your clothes, and you can even sleep with them on if you're careful. Also, there's an herbal extract called Cramp Bark - you can probably get it at a local health food store. Mix a few drops with some juice and drink it up - but keep in mind the taste is really nasty!
