What is phos. ethanolamine igm?!
Question: My husband showed positive and so far we have been unable to get any answers from the doctors and the internet.
Answers:
Phosphatidyl ethanolamine is an example of a "phospholipid". Phospholipids are substances in your bloodstream which aid in blood clotting. Some people make antibodies to certain phospholipids (also known as antiphospholipid antibody syndrome or APLA syndrome). For some reason (the process is not well understood), may of these people have higher risks of developping blood clots. The "phos. ethanolamine igm" is a test for the antibody to that particular phospholipid which MAY mean he is at slightly increased risk of developping clots.
