Answers:
Kidney stones (renal calculi or nephrolithiasis) are pieces of minerals found in the kidneys. They may stay in the kidney or travel out of the body through the urinary tract—the tubes that connect the kidney to the bladder (ureters) and lead outside the body (urethra). When traveling through the urinary tract, a stone may cause no pain or cause great pain and other symptoms. Kidney stones usually do not cause any long-term damage to the urinary tract. A kidney stone is a solid piece of material that forms in the kidney out of particles in the urine.

Kidney stones may be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball. Stones may be smooth or jagged. They are usually yellow or brown.

A small stone may pass out in the urine without causing too much pain. A larger stone may get stuck in the body. A problem stone can block urine flow and cause pain.

ARE ALL KIDNEY STONES ALIKE?
No. There are four major types of stones.

Calcium stones are the most common, since calcium is part of a healthy diet.
A struvite stone may form after an infection in the urinary system.
A uric acid stone may form when there is too much acid in the urine.
Cystine stones are rare. Cystine is a material that make up muscles, nerves, and other body parts.

WHAT CAUSES KIDNEY STONES?
Kidney stones may be a result of diet, heredity, or other reasons. Scientists don’t believe that eating any specific food causes stones to form in people who are not at risk.

A person with a family history of stones may be more likely to develop stones. Urinary tract infections and some kidney disorders such as cystic kidney diseases may also be related to getting kidney stones.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF KIDNEY STONES?
If you have a kidney stone, you may already know how painful it can be. You should call a doctor when you have:

Extreme pain in your back or side that will not go away
Blood in your urine
Fever and chills
Vomiting
Urine that smells bad or looks cloudy
A burning feeling when you go to the bathroom

Kidney Stone grows when you eat many kind of foods and little water. Minerals from food are filtered into the kidney (its like a filter). When you replace water with other drinks, mineral on those drinks also continue depositing on the kidney.
The Best home remedy practiced in the Virgin Islands are drinking COCONUT WATER -straight from the coconut. And after a week or two the stone is bulletted straight out through your urine tract; depending on how big is the stone. The bigger the more difficult and painful it is.
