Heavy treatment of cheap mayoannaise. The lice cannot survive without the exposure to air. Put on shower cap and leave on for about 2 hours or even better to leave on overnight. Good for your hair, too.
This works better than olive oil because it is more controlable. Plus it smells better!

Put Olive oil in your hair and put a shower cap on. Then leave in on for a while. make sure you wash your hair VERY well after about 15 min. If that doesn't work, try putting ALOT of hair gel in your hair and leaving that in for a while.

Umm..you can go buy some over the counter stuff. But the main thing you have to do is treat EVERYTHING in your house. ALL things that cannot be washed (comforters, stuffed animals) must be bagged up in air tight bags for 3 weeks. Everything else MUST be washed in hot water (if it can be) and dried in the Dryer. Don't forget to treat the car! Go buy some lice killing spray (maybe like 10 bottles) and just start spraying everything down. ALSO make sure to vaccum well. Also make sure to get all the nit's out of the childrens hair and do a retreat when the bottle says to.
Tea Tree Oil works. Get it at the health food store, apply full strength, leave on for 15 minutes. Then wash off and reapply. It will kill the lice. Now you must make sure there are no eggs around to reinfect you.
If you don't have olive oil at home, you can also try mayonnaise. Put it in your hair thick, especially around the base of your neck and ears. Leave it in for 15 min. and wash out. Wait four days and then do it again. Be sure to use a nit comb to get the eggs out.

I answered a similar question the other day and the answer I gave was something I read in a magazine, a woman said that she didnt want to use chemicals so she soaked her hair in mouth wash, the really strong listerine one and left her hair in a shower cap overnight and in the morning all the lice were dead. Well by coincidence my wife treated my childrens hair today as she suspected they might have headlice, she didnt want to leave it on too long so after about half an hour she combed their hair and got about nine or ten lice each, some were dead and others appeared to be dying, she probably should have left the mouthwash on much longer but trust me this definately works and is much cheaper than chemicals and probably better for kids.
