why is ours the only country in the world with expensive health insurance?!

Question:
Answers:
In this country most of the health insurance is based on the drugs that are prescribed. Drug companies manufacture drugs for people who dont need them in some cases, but want them because they make them feel better. So demand pushes that. Then the legalized drug dealers, also known as doctors and pharmacists, push them onto us by telling us we need them sometimes when we dont. Well doctors and pharmacists get kickbacks for dispensing those drugs and since drug companies want to take advantage of the huge demand they jack up the price as high as it can go.

Think about this, Canada has national health care, they also have cheap drug prices, why? Canada wont let drug companies dictate to them what price they sell the drugs, the Canadian government regulate the prices.
Unlike the US where the drug companies contribute heavily to politicians who vote to keep the laws in their favor.

Other Answers:
Here are some of the many reasons: 1) we pay very close attention to our health; 2) drug development is taking longer and getting more expensive; 3) we have FDA; and 4) we have many lawyers. Some of these reasons are for our safety.
Because we allow it.
It isn't. Even the countries with nominal free health insurance take the money spent on health from the people. It is either part of the income tax or taken away from income as part of the social insurances package. The main difference is that the payload is distributed to people who take their income from regular jobs. Some countries (especially in Scandinavia) don't allow exceptions and tax all personal income, most countries don't, letting the very rich go scots free.

In Germany, people with a regular job pay about 17%-21% of their net personal income to the common health insurances, unless they earn more than a fixed amount. Self-employed people or people with higher income pay either to private health insurers or pay the maximum amount to their publich insurance.

The "free medical provision" is limited. Unless someone is receiving dole or similar support, every adult has to pay some amount for prescription drugs which may be token in case of expensive but vital medication or covering the whole expenses for cheap everyday medication. Dental replacement is covered only to 50% by public insurance, similar for sight aids.

If you want quality service, you have to pay for it.
