Question:

No. Dont do it. He hasnt started puberty. Testosterone production hast started. He may get frustrated at the lack of visual results. Not to mention you may stunt his growth. If you start him on weights his connective tissue may begin to tighten or worse, hypertrophy. This means that his growth plates will shorten and his growth which will take place during puberty will be stunted.

Do you mean to say 'weights'? If so, there could definetly be a negative effect if an 8 year old started lifting weights. A child should wait until they're older, perhaps 14-16, so they've begun to grow into their adult body. If they start too young it can effect their growth.
Waiting is always a good thing for children.
