Depression/Anxiety?!

Question:
Im constantly sad, always feeling hopeless like nothings every going to work out. Im 2.5 months late on my period. I always feels nervous, Im constantly checking the door locks, the stove, washer/dryer, microwave. Im 100% scared of the dark. The always worried the smoke alarms are going to go off, therefore I never cook on the stove/oven anymore. I worry about the computer being on for long period of time, in my mind I see it blowing up, catching fire. Im always alone, & I cry quite a bit. When my Mom leaves for work, I always check her cigarettes to make sure theyre out. Everything has to be clean and in order, my order. If its not, it has to be fixed, asap. I hardly ever sleep, and I mean hardly ever! Ive also posted another one of these about my stomach problems.

So if anyone has any comments, I'd love to hear them. Sorry I wrote so much, it just feels so good to get it all out. Thanks for listening =]
Answers:
symptoms point to either Generalized Anxiety Disorder or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Probably the first one. Yeah, probably GAD and you should see someone soon before you get an ulcer. See, when your anxious, your sympathetic nervous system kicks into gear increasing your heart rate, breathing, sweating, etc. as well as slowing down digestion in the stomach. When the parasympathetic takes over after the anxiety is gone, your stomach starts to secrete HCL Acid. When you go back and forth, it's like driving a car when you're 15 - you hit the gas too hard, then hit the breaks, hit the gas too hard, hit the breaks. Over time, this can eat holes in your stomach lining. You should see a doctor soon. Make an appointment with a Psychologist. He can then refer you to the appropriate doctor to make a diagnosis and get you on some anti-anxiety meds.

u definately need a vacation.

sorry 2 b the bearer of bad news and i dont substitute for a real medical professional but it sound slike you have an extreme case of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) so you need to see a doctor

Hi there, do you have any friends that can come and stay with you. perhaps you are frightened and lonely for good reason?

When we fear things then they always seem bigger than they really are - so you might have read about OCD and just want us on here to confirm to you have got it. We dont know you. And we dont know why you behave in this way - but it may have nothing to do with ocd and everything to do with fear and anxiety of being lonely and abandoned.

Do you have anyone that you can talk things through with? Do you have a close friend? It will help to talk to someone about how you are feeling and try not to rely too heavily on the psuedo-experts on here, if you can.its no substitute for proper friendship and a proper medical consultation.

if you don't have a therapist already i would get one. you can look in the phone book and find therapists in your area and give one of them a call. if they seem nice and like a good fit then stick with them. if not, call another number and try again. (call, or have your mom call, your insurance company and find out what your mental health benefits are)

i would also talk to my physician if i were you and have them refer you to a psychiatrist who can talk to you about your feelings and possibly diagnose whatever problem you have. once you are given a diagnosis they can put you on some medication that will help.

good luck, and remember that a lot of people go through these things and you aren't alone

never be afraid of asking someone for help, or just to talk

Oh so sorry. How old are you? You said you are late on your period? Could you be pregnant? You need to see a doctor.

And yes it sounds like OCD too. I hope things get better for you.

i'm having a little bit of depression/anxiety myself and i know how you feel.yesterday i was talking to a woman that i met here.and just talking made me feel better so if you ever want to chat my address is lost_soul2436@yahoo.com
