I saw a show on it once.

OCD mean you either think about things over and over in your head or do things over and over. The key factor is that you can not stop your rituals or when you do, it will cause great emotional distress. An example is when you can't stop checking a locked door to make sure it is indeed locked after already checking it 10 times. Or when you are late to school bacuse you couln't stop what you where doing. It is interesting to know you have not mentioned this to anyone yet. True OCD is not easy to hide. People who are close to you will notice the symptoms way before you do.
If you fit the description, see a psychiatrist. A group of medications called SSRIs are what OCD is treated with. Hope you feel better.

The drug treatments for OCD tend to start with SSRIs, the same category of drugs as some antidrepesants, like Prozac. Prozac or Zoloft are commonly prescribed. These help many people, but they are not a cure. There are other drugs being used now too.

Group support has been shown to be very beneficial. If you do have OCD (you don't sound like you have been officially diagnosed) you are at the best possible time in your life to get help, as there has been some evidence that catching it at your age leads to much better recovery. Basically, you can break these habits better when your brain is still flexible!

Most people don't get diagnosed and get help till they are over thirty, and for many over 30, OCD is never successfully resolved. If fact it's fairly untreatable in older people.

Investing the effort to sort this stuff out now will create a much more successful life, helping you to achieve your dreams and goals. A good way to start is to see your family doctor and tell them why you are worried. They may refer you to a psychiatrist (who can presecribe these kind of meds) or a psychologist. You will have a series of tests (medical questionaires, and an interview(s) with a medical professional). OCD is diagnosed by analysing your psychological profile and an analysis of your daily habits. Upon a diagnosis of OCD, you may be prescribed a medication, and referred to a specialist therapist and/or support group that will really help create a plan of attack for you to recover. This plan will include your family, and many times bring families a lot clser together, bringing a greater understanding of your challenges to everyone.

OCD is not curable. It is, however, treatable. You can treat it either behaviorally or pharmacologically. Pharmacological treatment consists of antidepressants that block serotonin reuptake (some tricyclics and the SSRIs). However, pharmacological treatment has many unwanted side effects. Behavioral treatment, is therefore preferred, especially for clients presenting with mostly odd rituals such as you say you show. For behavioral treatment, you will want to see a Board Certified Behavior Analyst to get it done correctly. It mainly consists of engaging in the behaviors that would lead up to performance of your ritual without then engaging in the ritual.

I did some research and found this info online.
I hope it helps you very much.

obsessive compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder wherein people become alarmed over irrational threats, obsessive compulsive personality disorder is a personality or philosophical disorder. Persons with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder are handicapped in many spheres of life unrelated to ritualizing. Typical personality characteristics in persons with OCP involve tremendous amounts of anger. These people engage in very rigid and moralistic thought process. My favorite thing to say to persons with OCP is that they believe that they own truth and have a tremendous intolerance when another person's reality conflicts with their own. Persons with OCP tend to have dysfunctional relationships in which they repeatedly alienate persons who attempt to get close to them. They tend to have a great degree of difficulty with authority figures or as an authority figure tend to be feared by and intimidating to their subordinates. Often times persons with OCP can be very successful in minimal to moderate forms of the condition. Because of their strict adherence to very rigid standards and guidelines, business tends to reward their vigilance and seemingly single minded devotion to their work. At more serious level of OCP involvement persons become handicapped by perfectionism such that making seemingly noncritical decisions are almost impossible because of the person desperate need to be certain of their correctness. Persons with OCP tend to have aspects of OCD rituals; i.e. a need for organization, an inability to let go of items well beyond the item's usefulness for fear that the item might be a value or a sin of wastefulness to get rid of.
