im just really not sure what the difference is i know they both help you build muscle but not sure what the difference between the 2 is
Answers:
A steroid is anything that has the 4 ring "steroid" configuration, it can be anything from cholesterol to estrogen, it doesn't matter, all it has to do is have that 4 ring configurtion that looks like this: http://www.people.vcu.edu/~urdesai/intro.htm#Structure

An anabolic steroid is a specific type of steroid that causes growth. It does not have to be muscle growth, just any kind of growth (that is what anabolic means, causing growth). These are things like testosterone, estrogen, and androstenedione.

Here is a quotation about steroids:

"In human physiology and medicine, the most important steroids are cholesterol, the steroid hormones, and their precursors and metabolites."

Steroids can be used in these areas as stated above, where as anabolic steroids are more specific and generally refer to those used in body-building.
