I need to find a walk-in mental health clinic in the US?!

Question:

Answers:
County Mental Health is usually the place to go. There are different clinics depending on how old you are, etc., so it is best to call the facility first and ask for an intake appointment. If your city is large enough to have a "crisis line" or "suicide hotline," then you can call that number and they will be glad to help you find a clinic in your area.

As always, if you (or someone you are helping) is in immediate danger of hurting themselves or hurting someone else, this is an emergency and you make sure that you are seen immediately (clinic, emergency room, mental health hospital, etc.) Take care.

IN Minneapolis there is a a place called the walk in counsling center. I'm not certin of the number but it's located on Chicago Ave. They are free or donation only.

Depending on where you live an what County that you live in you can check your county's website and look under mental health services. I used to work for the Los Angeles County's Department of Mental Health and the county administered over 100 free walk-in mental health clinics.

It's tough to find "walk in" places. Most places require appointments for staffing reasons. If you're looking for treatment, you need to schedule a time so a person can do an intake and get you the help you truly need.

If you need something short term because you're feeling like you might do something or you're in real distress, you can always go to your emergency room and they have staff mental health professionals there.
