What can I eat for lunch that doesn't make me so sleepy afterwards?!

Sometimes after I eat lunch, I get sleepy and almost fall asleep in classes or while studying, even if I got sufficient sleep the night before. What foods won't make me so sleepy?

Avoid eating or drinking refined carbs. Carbs raise blood sugar levels (giving a brief sugar high). Then, insulin kicks in and lowers blood sugar. Sometimes, too much insulin is released and blood sugar drops a little low making you lethargic and sleepy.

Try to eat naturally occurring carbs at lunch time (vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc). Skip the candy bars, granola bars, fruit juices, cokes and other sweets as well as avoid the starchy foods like bread and pasta dishes.

Well, I know for sure, that if your'e dressed all warm and cozy, it'll make you sleepy. If you wear lighter clothes, it'll keep you more alert. Yes, things with caffeine do keep you awake, but aren't good for you. Find an energy drink with good things in it, not just sugar and caffeine. Whenever my mom eats tomatoes, she gets REALLY sleepy. eat natural foods and not processed ones. The energy you get from natural foods last longer than processed ones. Natural meaning natural sugars and carbohydrates. If you are eating chips and sweets and having a coke to drink, that is why you feel sluggish after you eat. Sometimes these things give you a high at first, but then it sends you down into the depths. i bring a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat or wholegrain bread with fruit and crackers. those peelable cheese sticks are good as well.
