Does Cognitive behavioral therapy work?!

Question:
Has anyone tried CBT? Did it work? How good is it? Did it cure u? Did make things better?
Answers:
Yes and no. You get out of it what you put into it. You must learn to be open to it and to not censor yourself while in a session. How good it is depends on how good your therapist is, and how well you work with him or her. For the most part, it will make things better. As corney as it may sound, talking about problems is an excellent way of dealing with them. If you have 1 episode of Depression you are 50% likely to have another. If you have a 2nd episode you are 75% likely to have another, and so on. Generally, "cure" is not the goal with therapy. Therapy looks to achieve remission. When searching for a therapist ask around, visit multiple therapists and select your favorite. Look for someone with "Clinical Psychologist" in their title. "Therapist" does not suffice because it is not a regulated term. A Clinical Psychologist has a Ph. D. in psychology. A "Therapist" could literally be anyone. Please refer to the book I've listed below.

I believe CBT can be very beneficial, I read the book by Albert Ellis, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and found it to be very helpful, I use this with my clients all the time in ways to help them deal with everyday life struggles, heck it got me out of a bad relationship!! Hope this helps, but definetly is one of the best theories I work with!!

Good Luck :)

Honestly cognitive behavioral thereapy is an excellent aid. I would recommend trying it, although as with anything, results are not 100%. But seriously, give it a try

Golgi body has a very good reference for you to check out. I also firmly believe that it is what you put into it is what you will get out of it. you have to be open to trying new things until you find what works for you.

I have been in this type of therapy for almost 10 years. I consider it as a way to fix all the years of "bad thoughts" that I came up with on my own. It taught me to think of things like a lawyer would argue a case..like "ok just because you had a really bad day at work, does that REALLY mean that you are going to get fired?" or "ok you made a bad choice, does that REALLY mean that you are going to die, or that you are a terrible person, etc?" No, it doesn't.
