height and weight question?!

Im 13 years old Im 5'2 But Im Only Weigh 82 Pounds.Am I Under Weight? And If So By how Much?

According to the CDC (center for disease control) age/BMI growth charts (the same ones your doctor uses and the only ones that are capable of telling you if you are under/over weight) you are in the 3rd percentile. All that means is that 97% of kids your age weigh more than you. Based on the math that the chart is based on anyone less than the 5th percentile is considered underweight. Unlike what other people are telling you, this is a major concern right now because you are growing and are probably (if you haven't already) going through puberty and you need a lot of calories for this. It seems to me that you are not getting enough calories, or you are working out so much that you are just burning everything off. Either way I would recommend increasing your food intake, but make sure it is healthy food like fruits, veggies, whole grains and milk (skim or 1%). As for the answer to the second part of your question there is no way to say how underweight you are as it depends on your body size and also the "normal" weight range is so large that if we compare you to someone who is in the 94th percentile for weight (still considered normal but the chart) you could be underweight by as much as 60 pounds, so that is not really a good question to ask.

It is hard to say at 13. At 13 I was 5'1" and 96 lbs. You do seem really small to me. If you are eating and taking care of yourself dont worry about it. You are still going through puberty. You will pick up wieght

You are fine. I was 5'10" and barely weighed 100 poubds at around age 15. I filled out nicely and am now 5'10" and weigh about 130-135 which I get complimented on a lot. You are a little thin, but you are young. Do not make dramatic changes trying to plump up. Your body will grow and adjust.

Hm..I have the answer in my mind. The people who says your under weigh is rightt and not perfectly righ. Exactly, you are perfect.well a bit under weigh though. I am a teacher, trust me.

You have the perfect weight. I'm thirteen as well and I'm only 80 pounds or so. And I was also concerned about my weight, so I went to the doctor and asked him an he said that I have nothing to worry about and that I'm the perfect weight for my age so dont worry about it.
