Two ways of fighting a cold. First way is prevention. Stay away from people who are sick. Wash your hands before you eat, and avoid rubbing your eyes unless you washed your hands first.

Try to get outside once in a while as the sunlight will do you good, and you'll get fresh air (if you live in Northern Climates like Canada). Cold season usually starts when winter comes because people tend to stay indoors and increases the chance of infection. Make sure you eat around the 4 main food groups, so that you are getting the proper nutrition.

After you've caught the cold, your body will take care of things. You can help it, by resting, drink plenty of fluids to help replenish the moisture you lost through your nose blowing.

You'll be done with a cold in about a week, if you get plenty of rest.

keep blowing out the germs by blowing your nose. and don't think that staying in bed will help this just provides a warm environment for germs to breed. so get outside excercise! drink loads of water too to keep your fluid levels up. a cold cannot be treated becuase it is a virus so you will have to wait until it goes by itself - hope this helps

Obviously you need a lot of rest and sleep, so for me, I have found that taking a B-Stress complex (lot's of B vitamins, C, etc) really helps. And believe it or not a little white wine in the evenings helps a great deal. Both of those help me relax, relieve the aching sore muscles, so I can get some sleep.

(I know it sounds a lot like a NyQuil ad.but it is an all natural solution that works for me)

with hot tea and lemon (which contais Vitamin C). NO sugar. it tastes reeeeeaaaaaallly nasty, but it works. For me at least.

Drink plenty of water and hot tea with fresh lemon and honey, get plenty of sleep and fresh air, take vitamin C and eat as much fruit as you can (it has a lot of vitamins that will help your immune system fight it off) Also, if you can, eat a jalepeno or chili pepper once in a while and that is great for clearing up congestion.

Make sure you drink lots of fluids and take a shower everytime you get the chance and eat a lot of hot food with fruits that have vitamin C like oranges, lemon and then lots of rest ok

I have never been so happy as the day I found and tried airborne- you do need to take it at the first signs of a cold or before entering a crowded area (i.e. airplane, casino, party, etc.) but I've had the stuff now for two years and *knock on wood* everytime I feel a cold comming on, I take it, and it goes away within a day. NOTHING like it was before.

There is no cure for the common cold, but alas, it never kills anybody. Take Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) 60 mg every 4 hrs as needed to relieve congestion in nose. Take chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg every 4 hrs as needed to relieve running of your nose, and also helps with congestion. Vicks vaporub on your nose and neck or chest may help with its aroma to relieve congestion. Dr. Linus Pauling, the Nobel prize winning biochemist, sweared by huge doses of vitamin C, like 10-15 grams a day (10,000-15,000 mg). There was some evidence that a zinc supplement helps. Robitussin DM will help the cough, or if bad cough take a cough syrup with codeine like Robitussin AC or with hydrocodone, like Hycodan. Sure, the honey and lemon and hot toddies with these together with whisky, and the cough drops like Ricola or Halls or Vicks can help relieve symptoms. Echinacea (purple cone flower) has been greatly touted as a natural remedy, to boost the immune system, but there isn't much evidence of it working.
