If you are taking medicine that causes "dry mouth" anti-depressants for example then you may ask the pharmacist or your Dr.about the solution there are sprays and rinses. We need saliva to keep our teeth clean and healthy. I am under the impression that dry mouth leads to accelerated plaque build up because there is no saliva for natural lubrication.

Not really. It comes from not brushing your teeth.
The one thing I have noticed is that if you are sick or breath through your mouth that seems to make it worse, but on the other two I would have to say no.
Just brush your teeth more. Plaque is caused by food particles left in your mouth and you not brushing your teeth. Plain and simple!
Brushing your teeth at least once a day really improves the situation. I see people with stuff on their teeth and I know how long it takes to build up and I know that they are not brushing their teeth. It is so gross to see people with white gunk all along their gum line from lack of brushing. Like I want to see that!! YUCK
