why does a neurologist not give you a straight answer?!

Question:
After being referred to a neurologist and had all the requireed tests, i was told it was probably a mild form of M.S. Went back for MRI results and told more or less that my symtoms would disappear. No diagnosis!
Answers:
It sounds to me like a diagnosis.

He said you have a mild form of M.S., and your symptoms should disappear.

What were you hoping he'd say?

Other Answers:
Well to me it seems that there may have been nothing to much for you to be concerned about. If you feel that what you were told was not satisfying to you then have another opinion on your condition. But you can always have a sign of something that really turns out to be nothing to worry about but like I said if you feel that he was lying to you it is then your duty to get that second opinion to assist you with what you need because your health comes first and if it is true that he/she didnot tell you the real deal then you can sue him and I dont think a doctor would really risk telling a patient a lie knowing that they can be sued for millions and millions of dollars.

But good luck and I hope you get the resolution that you are seeking

MS is multiple sclerosis..UR neurologist could only feel suspecious by UR typical symptoms that U must have presented him/her..Since MS brings some changes to our brain so neurologist can only give a provisional diagnosis..and so he referred you to a Radiologist coz on MRI u can see some changes which are typical of MS..But the Radiologist differed in his/her opinion coz he/she must have seen more aggrevated/advanced cases of MS..So he councelled U by saying that there are good chances for U to improve.Actually noone was wrong. It was U who were apprehensive.:-)

M.S, the symptoms would disappear, but what about the illness? M.S isn't something that just disappears on it's own, you may want to see another Doctor.Dr. never give straight answers.. they go to school for so long and this is the answers they give you. Keep searching, this is your life.

Too often, doctors are afraid to say: "I don't know what is wrong with you". Sadly, patients truly appreciate this type of honesty, yet docs just can't 'go there' in their own minds.

Keep looking for a doctor that can help you. Try other Medical doctors, Chiropractors and Naturopathic Physicians. Everything has a cause. It often takes a lot of effort to find the doctor that has the knowledge to identify the cause(s) of your problem.

Best wishes and good luck.

I would get a second opinion. MS is life long disease and I would want to know if I had it or not. It is not something to be taken lightly. I believe MS belongs to a group of diseases called autoimmune disorders. I also think that there is a blood test that can be done to confirm if you have MS or not, something to look into. Also, maybe you should talk to the original doctor again and have someone with you. I know sometimes I don't catch everything that a doctor says and it is helpful to have someone else there. Preferably, someone who will ask questions. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions and demand an answer, your health is very, very important.
