My husband had this, he had to shave his head, treat it with ointment and then switch to a sulfate free shampoo, then again, you might be able to just switch to the shampoo, both he and my mom use it and it REALLY helps.

This is the brand he uses and you can get it cheepest at Winco (if they have those in your area) otherwise look for an Ulta or most grocery stores carry it. Good first step before resorting to shaving it all off.

A prescription item called Selenium Sulfide lotion, USP 2.5%
A homeopathic solution is to use common red vinegar found in any grocery store. Just get your scalp thoroughly wet with the vinegar (don't put enough on that it will run all over the place), massage it into the scalp and comb your hair. You should do this twice a day, one time right after shampooing your hair. It is important that you keep your comb meticulously clean (you can either keep your comb in a glass of alcohol (not the drinking kind), or in a glass of Listerine mouth wash (the original kind). Don't worry about odor as the vinegar will evaporate fairly quickly, the same with storing your comb. Once you get it under control, you should use the vinegar at least once per week for controlling the fungus. Incidentally, if you have toe-nail fungus, either the vinegar or the Listerine works well by soaking your toenails in either one for about 15 min., twice a day. Wear white socks from now on also.
