is it okay to pee while wearing a tampon?!

Your mother should have taught you this, but I have noticed mom's don't teach much about tampons. Of course it is okay to pee. It is also okay to sleep. It is okay to live your life normally, the only thing that you should change is tampons - every four hours or so, depending on how heavy a bleeder you are, but i would advise to never go more than eight hours because that increases the risk for toxic shock syndrome (which is rare, so don't worry about it if you have good, hygienic practices). Another thing it might be easier on you to switch from a tampon to a pad when it is feasible, so that you don't get irritated from changing. Sometimes, if you are a virgin or have a thick hymen, the tampon can cause tears in it, and even get caught on it. This is NORMAL but might cause a little bit of stinging when you pee, as may changing tampons too frequently. I hope you get the answers you need, you can read the box and the insert (a small paper with small print) to get a lot more information. Tampons are something most girls have to figure out on their own, and it was brave of you to ask the question. I hope my answer helps. When I had questions like yours it was just a lot of reading that helped -- there was no internet back in those days. (I'm not that old though = 39). Oh, one thing I would say you should NOT do is swim in the ocean when you are wearing a tampon. I have done it a lot, but was familiar with the area and know there are no sharks there. If you aren't sure if there may be sharks, then don't swim in the ocean, even with a tampon when you have your period. Sharks can smell blood from miles away, and though chances are you won't leak with a tampon, and chances are no shark is going to be in the vicinity, I still want to advise caution on that, and wish more people would speak out as to the dangers of any type of blood in the water in an area known to have sharks. Okay, hope this helps you kiddo! :-)
