Remember .
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.

I read a story I really liked once (I think it was in Chicken Soup for the Soul). It was about a couple who bought a brand new car and crashed it. As soon as they got it repaired, it was stolen. The moral was "Honey, we can have a crashed/stolen car and be happy or we can have a crashed/stolen car and be sad. Either way, we've got a crashed/stolen car."

I really like this saying, and I use it a lot. Crap happens. You can try to keep a good attitude, or you can sulk about it. The only difference is how you feel. Crap will still happen.

YES..just keep saying to yourself.
"It's NOT forever!"

That's not totally realistic, but it is true that our moods are affected by how we choose to react to an event. I absolutely love the answer above though.

through some situations, yes. not all, unfortunately.

Yes, absolutely.
It requires changing your focus from the things that are disturbing and focusing on the things that are good.
In the Biblbe we are told to think on the things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, honorable, praiseworthy, anything of virtue or of good report. (See Philippians 4:8-10)
When my kids were little we used to do alphabet praise. Starting with the letter "A" we would thank God for everything we could think of that started with that letter. When we'd finish with "A" we'd move to "B' and on through to "Z". Try it sometime. You'll be amazed.

Wherever we fix our eyes/thoughts, our emotions are sure to follow. There is something good in everyone's life, everyday. Don't lose sight of those good things.
