Honestly, 100 pounds is pushing it. You would be doing really well to lose 50 pounds in one year, if you do it the healthy way. You may be able to lose 100 pounds in one year is you take drastic unhealthy measures. But losing weight that fast almost guarantees you'll put it right back on just as quickly. The slower you lose it, the better.

You can, with hard work and motivation, lose 50 pounds. One pound per week is healthy, and not too hard to do if you are dedicated. I tried EVERYTHING: Crash diets, pills, etc. and nothing worked until I tried this:

Eat 500 fewer calories each day than you burn. For instance, According to my body weight I burn around 2000 calories per day, so for my plan I shoot for 1500 per day. Calorie-count.com is an excellent resource for tracking your calories.

You MUST exercise along with this. Join a gym, and if you can afford it, get a personal trainer. It is going to be very difficult to so drastically change your lifestyle and you are going to need motivation and support. You should do at least 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times per week, and weight training 2-3 times per week. I personally go for long runs twice a week (5 miles each) and on the other days I do light weight lifting and 30 minutes of low intensity cardio, like on an elliptical of bike. You have to make sure you are fueling up before your workouts though, and refueling afterwards. If you have no energy when you get to the gym, you won't have a very good workout.

Don't starve yourself. If your body goes a long time without food, it's starts storing everything you eat as fat because it doesn't know when it will get it's next meal. I eat 6-7 small meals per day. I never go hungry. I eat light snacks. And there are some really tasty and healthy diet foods and snacks out there, even ones with chocolate to help with cravings.

Drink lots of water. It will help flush out the fat you've burned as well as ease your hunger. Our bodies often tell us we're hungry because it's hard to tell the difference between hunger and thirst. Often all you needed was water, but instead you ate a meal, so drinking 8 glasses per day will help you cut more calories.

Really look at calorie-count.com. I joined in February and I've lost ten pounds. NOTHING ever worked for me before this. I tried Atkins, starving myself, pills, etc. This will work, but you have to stick to it. Try and find someone that will do this with you. Having a friend is key. My fiance helps get me motivated to go to the gym because we go together.

Good luck to you! And congratulations on taking the first step.

Walk. Drink lots of water with a lemon slice in it. you will lose more than you can imagine and quick!

You already have some great answers but just to add a couple more suggestions. Try to schedule your exercise at a specific time so you wont be tempted to skip it telling yourself you will do it later then talk yourself out of it completely. For example..I exercise very early in the morning so I can't use the excuse that company showed up or someone might see me exercising and I would be embarrassed. By doing this first thing before anyone else is up I get it out of the way and feel much better not only physically but also mentally because I am not wasting my time and energy trying to get out of it. This also gives me the opportunity to exercise later if I so desire getting twice the benefit.Good Luck, I'm cheering for you!!

It is possible but unlikely unless you stay committed to a very good plan. In my experience I have yet to see people who needed to lose 100 stick to what they need to do to lose it. They can stick to parts of it and they get partial results. Most people who need to lose 100 lbs are so deconditioned that it is damn near impossible to keep up with the workouts, and so undisciplined in their eating they cant stick with the restrictions on their eating that is required to lose 100 lbs in a year.

Ok enough negatives if you want to lose 100 lbs in a year here is a good plan, you already know it starts with a healthy diet and a fitness regimen.

Diet and fitness work together toward a healthy lifestyle. Changing your diet and your level of fitness is what can change the way you look and feel. The best way to lose weight is about living a healthier life than what you may be living now. You will need a complete lifestyle change and you will need to be committed.

The body loses about 2 pounds a week optimally and that’s 2 pounds that stay off. That means in 50 weeks ( a year) you could safely lose 100 lbs. When you drop at a faster rate your body could potentially rebound and either plateau your weight loss or put extra weight on. If you are committed then you should reach your goal.

There will be 5 basic lifestyle elements you need to adjust to have a healthy lifestyle.
They are:

1. Your Eating
2. Your Water Intake
3. Maintaining a balance of cardio and resistance exercise
4. Smart supplementation
5. Sleeping the best amount of time.

I could give you a long detailed explanation but you can find each that in the source. It explains it better.

I have to agree with vanillaeclare. 100 lbs in 1 year is really, really pushing it. Think about how long it took to put on the 100 lbs. What was it? Personally, I joined Weight Watchers 3 years ago and have lost 123 lbs. Most weeks the losses (and those are not necessarily every week) tend to be small; maybe a half pound. Sometimes they are more in the 1-2 lbs. range. Rarely are they above 2 lbs., but they do occur. For me the keys have been motivation, support, patience, and setting small achieveable goals.

When I started, I had been fat for about 30 years. I stayed fat because of childhood issues with my parents, my peers, and the general crap that people give you. It was my way of rebelling. Kinda dumb, I know. But I finally got tired of it. So, I got mad about being fat and all I've been missing in life. My wife and daughter had joined WW not long before and were getting reasonable, consistent weight losses. Diets absolutely did not work for me. So, at 350 "morbidly obese" lbs. (I hate that morbidly obese term), I started by eating low-fat and low-sugar food or those that are fat-free and/or sugar-free. I started walking at a local mall with my wife & daughter. I couldn't even walk halfway around at first, but at least I was trying. My first goal was to just get to 330; down 20 lbs. Of course the first few lbs. are water weight, so don't get too giddy over those. But I got to 330 a lot faster than I thought I would, although it did take about 3 months.

Next I wanted to get to 300; actually 299 so I could have the 2 in front. It took me another 3 months to do it but I exercised much harder because I hated being fat. But I made it. Along the way, each time I crossed a 10 lb. barrier, if I could get it down to the "6-8" range of that next 10 lb. range, I celebrated because I felt I wouldn't go back up and lose the fight against the barrier. When I got to my goal, I really celebrated. As I lost waist sizes, I would buy 2 pairs of jeans (regular fit only; this had to be real or not at all). I kept setting small goals of 20-30 lbs. I'm at 226 now; just 6 lbs. away from my final goal of 220, which my doctor advised. I've dropped 10 waist sizes, 4 shirt sizes, and my neck is down 3 inches from where I started. Between you and me, I plan to keep going until I hit 199 just to say I got to the "1". I'm going to try to settle in at about the 205-210 range.

My loss has slowed down a lot because I've gotten lazy. But any loss is welcome no matter how small - 0.2 lbs on lots of weeks. And I've had lots of 0.2 - 1 lb. gain weeks. I count those as nothing, just part of the journey and not the end of the world. I'll keep after it and lose weight the next week. I wouldn't go back to being fat for anything. But you know what? I still think like I weigh 350. That's much harder to change than losing the weight. But I don't ever want to forget what it was like. Like my WW leader says, I'm a "fat man in remission". The looks from other people, the comments, the thinly-veiled discrimination (I'm waxing poetic), being termed "morbid". Unless someone has been there, they have no earthly idea what it's like.

You can do this. Set your mind to reach a small goal. Don't think about 100 lbs. Think about 5 or 10 lbs. That's achieveable. Get with some people that will really support you. I'm not trying to do a commercial for Weight Watchers, but that's the type of program and group I needed. It does really work and it's not a diet. You can eat literally anything you want; just cut back the portions. Be willing to try a little exercise. Even a little is better than none. You can find lots and lots of low-fat, fat-free, low-sugar or sugar-free foods out there that really do taste good and aren't a horror to try to have to eat.

Sorry for the diatribe, but this is a subject very close to me. I wish you all the best and look forward to the day you reach your goal.

No problem. If you are serious you can do it in a year easy. I believe eight months is possible. It depends on you. If you really want it you can do it with the proper nutrition plan that will control your cravings. For a free consultation check out the site below.

Whether you like him or not, you have to respect Dr Phil just because of one thing.

He continually asks his guests one simple question: "How's it working for you?"

Success in anything comes from FINDING WHAT WORKS then DOING WHAT WORKS.

I am going to reveal to you the Secret Weight Loss Formula that Celebrity personal trainer don’t want you to know about.

Before I reveal the secret, first I need to explain to you that there is process that your body goes through to burn body fat.

So how does your body burn fat?

It is a 2 steps process and in order you need to:
1.Release the fat from the fat cells and only then
2.You can burn the fat

That process is the same for every human being. I will outline the steps and then show you how you can easily apply some fundamental rules to allow your body to burn the maximum amount of fat with less effort and minimum time. Once you understand that simple process, you can easily see why you are not getting the results that you want. Even bigger, you will finally see that getting that dream body is getting so much closer to reality that you will be extremely motivated to get started as soon as you can.

How does your body release the fat from the cells?

Before you can turn your body into a fat burning machine, here what needs to happen: your body fat need to be released from the fat cells. You can accomplish this step successfully with your nutrition program. Here are some specific tips that you can apply right away to achieve that.

1.Eat 4-6 small, frequent meals and never skip meals.
2.Include small amounts of good fats.
3.Eat natural foods; avoid processed & refined foods
4.Eat lean proteins with each meal.
5.Eat more complex carbs, fruits & vegetables.

The most misunderstood weight loss strategy. How to burn the *fat* instead of burning muscles.

Releasing fat from the fat cells is not the end of it; actually, it is just the beginning. Because the fat needs to be transported from the fat cells to your muscles so it can be burned there. This is done through your blood and the cardiovascular system is responsible for that. The more effective is that system, the more effective your body will become at burning fat. You can improve your cardio vascular system by doing so cardio training. However, don’t go out yet and spend 1 hour on the treadmill because you probably not going to be doing too much good like that.

The reason is excessive cardio combined with a restrictive diet burns fat but mostly muscle tissue. That is not a good thing at all, because muscle tissue is where you burn the fat and if you are burning away muscle tissue, you are burning your ability to burn more fat in the future (weight loss plateau). You just don’t cut the hand that feed you. So cardio burns fat and it can also burn muscle tissue, this is a huge dilemma. Damn if you do, damn if you don’t. But wait there is a solution to that…

You need to do some MODERATE cardio training. The key word here is moderate.
Doing too much cardio can be detrimental and I am sure you have seen those people that are doing cardio on a daily basis and still not getting anywhere. The result is a low metabolism. Low metabolism means, your body fat is not going anywhere, anytime
soon. Here is what you need to do:

1.Do some moderate cardio training; the key word here is moderate
2.Never diet but consume little fewer calories that you will burn (No starvation diets, Please.)

The world most efficient “fat burner” is FREE and You already have it.

Before I reveal to you how personal trainer get those celebrities in the best shape of their life in such short period there is one more thing that I want you to understand. Because it is very important.
Weight loss marketers always claim that they have the magic “fat burner” that will melt your fat away. The problem is that they have a new one coming out every year, so I wonder if the one from last year was so effective, why we need a new one. There is only one thing that actually burn body fat is you already have it. It does not come in a bottle or a special recipe. Body fat can only be burned inside of your muscle tissue. I repeat Body fat can only be burn in your muscle tissue. This is the most important concept for you to grasp.

Your muscle tissue is your best friend when it comes to burn body fat. You need to preserve muscle tissues in order to keep losing weight. Most people go on a starvation diet combined a lot of cardio to lose weight. At first it may seems like this is working because they are losing scale weight. Now think about, scale weight does not tell you if weight loss is from fat, water or muscle tissue. Scale weight by itself is not a good indicator of success.

Losing water is only temporary,
Losing muscle will simply lower your metabolism and put you in the Yo-Yo dieting bandwagon. This should be avoided at all cost.
Losing fat while maintaining muscle mass is what your main goal should be.

To maintain muscle tissues you need to:
1.Do some resistance training. (This is not optional, it is mandatory)

The secret

Now that you understand the whole fat burning process, I am going to reveal to you how celebrity personal trainers do to get those amazing transformations. The strategy is to combine all the steps that I outlined so the body works as a unit. First the trainer makes sure that his client is eating the proper food on a regular basis.

By that I mean eating so that fat WILL be released from the fat cells. Then and only then they exercise the body to burn the fat. The important idea to take from this is:

“The fat can ONLY be burned after it is released from the fat cells”.

If you know anybody that has been exercising like a maniac and they don’t seem to go anywhere, now you know why.

The reverse is also true, Do you know somebody that is eating properly but they are not including cardio AND resistance training. Now you know why their body still look the same.

All you need to do is to combine a nutrition program, along with some MODERATE cardio program and maintain muscle mass with resistance training. Everything is combined with one goal in mind: Turning your body into an Automatic fat burning machine. It is that easy.

Don't like the results you have been getting? Then CHANGE YOUR STRATEGY.

How do you change your strategy? How do you find one that works?

DO NOT continue doing something just because "THEY" say it's the way things should be done. Allow yourself to choose the solution that will work for you, regardless of what it may be. The only way for you to know who is right is to measure your progress and ACTUALLY track your results.

CHANGE IS HARD, but it's also worth it. Not getting results makes change EXTREMELY HARD.

Get support from friends, family or a coach. Losing weight is not as hard at it seems once you know what to do.
