The only way to really get rid of anxiety is to go see a doctor, dont be paranoid about them, thats their job to talk to you and help you out.

don't think

I had panic attacks. They are much the same only more intense. I learned to recognize the difference between reality and my fears. Then when I felt one coming on I would just concentrate on what I knew to be REAL and tell myself nothing bad was going to happen. It took practice and time but after a year or so the anxiety/panic attacks went away.

Regardless of the cause, to get rid of anxiety, you have to engage in distractions like hobbies, going our with friends, or things of this sort to get your mind off of what is bothering you. If you don't you may crack up.

Train yourself to recognise what you have control over, and what you don't. The things you have control over that worry you, do something about. The things you have no control over, resign yourself to.

Nervousness over something like a job interview is a type of anxiety I suppose, but this kind you can recognise as productive - it creates adrenalin and this helps energise you to a good performance. Once you recognise this, the good aspects of the nervousness remain but the anxious elements diminish.

For severe cases, professional help and maybe subsequent medication is the last option.

I wish I knew-I have general anxitiy, seperation anxitiy, specific anxitiy and all that crap. I had to learn relaxation techinques and went through talk therapy and meds. I will have it for the rest of my life but it doesn't really bother me anymore, its part of who I am. wish it wasn't but. Can't help but play the cards life deals you.

ask doctor. he/she can answer it better

I suggest you see a psychologist/psychiatrist. I am currently doing this and it seems to help me. They can provide you with medication and also help you with behavioral therapy. Don't be scared to get help. There are so many people with this condition and people who have a lot worse mental conditions!

See your doctor. He can give you suggestions.

When you feel anxious, take deep slow breaths. Take a yoga class to learn how to relax. Practice meditation.

Technically you cannot completely get rid of anxiety because it has an adaptive role in your life (e.g., you see bus is about to hit you so you jump out of the way. Anxiety helps you initiate immediate action). However, if you feel you are suffering from an anxiety disorder, there is only 1 optimal treatment: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). You need to see a doctoral level psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA accredited university. This will provide some assurance of the quality of their training. CBT is a time limited therapy (typically 10 to 20 sessions) that focuses on specific techniques for reducing negative symptoms. Sometimes this involves learning new skills, other times in might involve re-learning how to experience anxiety. It depends on what type of anxiety problem your dealing with.
