I know technology isn't healthy for the environment. Just look at batteries that power all the little gadgets people have. They're disposed of, but they create toxic waste.
Or, computer chip makers. I used to deliver to Intel & other companies some pretty toxic gases used to make computer chips & other things.
Motorized vehicles spew pollution into the air. Pesticides & herbicides are in the waterways due to rain run-off.
As for our health? Drugs are created to help us all live longer, but for what purpose? I'm not saying we need to live in the dark ages, but back in the 40s-70s people died of "natural causes" which was probably all the stuff they know about now like, high cholesteral, and blocked arteries, etc. Give me a "natural cause" death, because I'm sure not going to take a bunch of pills everyday in the hopes I'll live a little longer.
p.s. March 24: nuclear power; check out how long the waste product is radioactive, and it's still being put in the ground. Granted, it's it barrels, but what would happen if an earthquake hit where some of the barrels are stored? I've always advocated for shipping that stuff to outer space.

Let's see, can machines we use for exercising to keep ourselves healthy & fit be counted as beneficial?
What about all the latest technologies including nanotechnology that has made previously impossible operations possible & increased life expectancy?
Maybe the day to day benefits of using tech. can be counted as benefitting our health in some way?
Technology is a double edged sward. On one hand, we benefit from advanced research techniques which aid in treatment, curing and in some cases prevention of birth defects and diseases. On the other hand, it has made us lazy. How many of you out there know (or have) children who would rather play video games and chat on line then go outside and play. When I was young, you couldn't keep me in the house. This was when we only had 3 local channels to watch, no computers, no cordless phones and the only video games were the ones at the skating rink and bowling alley. You remember. Space Invaders, PacMan, and Pinball.
Well there are so many things that Technology helps with. I just cant name them all I do know that a mayor thing in technology is in Radiology. I used to work at Providence Medical Center Alaska in the Radiology Department and the new things that G.E brought out and the things that they would talk about that is in testing it was so amazing. I got to look at a 3D view of a man who got malled by a BEAR and every little thing showed up from the brain to the way he looked on the outside. I got to see baby's so small in another person that helped show she was having Twins or a person who had cancer so small that all the other tests were saying it wasn't there. I got to see what a wonderful thing Technology is and what it can be there is so many other things I got to see as well as learn. You cant just take one question and expect to get answers for everything technology is GREAT for.
