Antacid tablets are made of calcium. So would it be the same as taking a vitamin calcium supplement?

Actually there is more calcium in Tums than in calcium supplements.

I prefer to drink an 8oz glass of pure OJ it tastes better, you get the Calcium + Vit C & Vit D and it absorbs faster into the body!

It does matter as the amount of calcium you you receive will depend on the product you take. If you take too many antacids it it can be dangerous. How often are you taking them? It can also be too dangerous to take too much calcium. Always ask your health care provider which is best as there may be more to your problem than just using antacids.

Why mess up the function of you stomach by decreasing the acid in it? I use Gaviscon, which is something called a raft antiacid. It forms a barrier on top of the contents of your stomach so none of the acidic contents comes back up your esophagus, which is what generated the pain. Try it! I think Gaviscon will work for you, and it doesn't alter your digestive system. It is a little expensive, but worth it.
