You need to contact blue sheild directly to see what they will cover and in what amounts. Depending on what you had done in the hospital, some services will be covered while others may not be. Usually a hospital will send charges to blue sheild directly and not to you for payment. Make sure they did send a bill to them and if these are charges you are expected to pay after your insureance has already paid their part. Sixteen Thousand dollars is a great deal of money to owe anyone and if you find out that you really do owe this much to the hospital, I would contact them to see if you can work out some kind of payment arrangement.
