What is the appropriate age for a kid to wear makeup?!

my mom says that im too young to wear makeup, im 12. i think it's a fine age. why not?

15. When you're older you'll realize that 1) if you take care of your skin and don't use makeup too early, you'll have nicer skin and look younger when you are older, 2) that wearing makeup as a young girl actually makes you seem like you have low self-esteem and are possibly trashy

Do you really need makeup? Makeup is really only necessary for people that are trying to hide flaws or make themselves look like something they're not, I'm sure you're beautiful without it.

I think at the age in which you can pay for it on your own, that stuff is bloody expensive over time. If you are old enough to work and buy your own you are old enough to wear it.

16, but not too much, even if your 30, please don't ever wear too much. I think if you are 12 you should be able to wear lip gloss, something shear, not too bright or dark. AT 12 you are absolutely beatiful, why hide what has been given to you.

If you were old enough to understand the signals that you are sending out when you wear makeup, you wouldn't ask that question.
Don't be in a rush to "grow up". You can never, ever, be 12 again, and being a 12 year girl is just as important to you life as anything else that you will do at any other time in your life.

well it depends how well your doing with it if you put on too dark or too heavy and why your wearing it i think that 14-15 yrs of age is the appropiate age and the reason why is b/c i started wearing it at 12 years old but i knew how but the thing is is that i was getting the attention of guys that were way older than me and so if your mom wants to take that kinda risk on getting raped like i did then i think shes wrong but i think that ur mom is right sorry. let me just say this i am 16 years old with a 2 year old baby right now. so think about what ur actions are gonna be ok plz

I was about 14 when i started wearing makeup. It all depends on your development. If you are a physically maturing then there shouldn't be a problem with a small amount but if you could be taken for a 9 year old then its just going to look silly.
Also remember that makeup can make you look a lot older than you are and your mother may be worried that you will get the wrong sort of attention from men (not boys your own age) because if they think your 17 or 18 they may try to do something inappropriate.
Understand that she is probably trying to look out for you own saftey in this matter so maybe you need to have a talk and set some limit on what you can and can't wear - i.e. a little gloss and pale eye shadow but now heavy eyeliner or bright red lippie.
I'd say 12 is a great age to start, but you don't need to do a full routine. Lip gloss, maybe a little mascara. Wait a couple years before the eyeliner and such. There's plenty of years to wear makeup. Enjoy being young and not having to worry about such things.
When you start wearing makeup at a young age is when you are most likely to end up with pimples. The most appropriate age for make up would be about a few months after about 2 serious breakouts. When i started wearing makeup i wore a lot, now i only wear it to make my face look naturally pretty. When you can easily tell what somebody is wearing isn't pretty. It's best too look like you have nothing on. If you haven't started seriously breaking out then just wait and your mother will understand.I just turned 14 (p.s. I had the same problem at the same age, if your friends are wearing alot they'll get over it)
well your mom is right. you are only 12, you dont need any makeup yet. for your age, maybe some clear or very light lipgloss and when you are 13 about the same thing. when you turn 14 and 15 then you could start wearing alittle stuff. i think 16 is the appropriate age for makeup. 13 and younger is too young. and alitle at 14 is ok.
i started wearing make up at a young age and wish i didnt now because all the boys expect girls who wear make up to go further with them. i think maybe you should only wear make up for special occasions
Nail polish at 13, make-up at 14, and boyfriend at 15. Everything needs to wait. You dont want to rush things. You dont want to look 23 when youre 12. Its not cool at all.
I think you should'nt put an age on when to wear makeup. Why, its really not hurting anything, it just depends on how much you put on.

i wore makeup in middle school. then i look back and realize how silly i looked. I barely wear makeup now. just chapstick and some cover up when needed. no time to put on makeup lol.
