Anyone here a nurse?!

Question:
How hard is the schooling, does it pay off??
Answers:
I am not a nurse, but I have and am currently working with many different nurses on a daily basis. I will tell you that on the rare occasion that I work with a nurse who is actually happy with their work, I am sure it pays off. More often than not, however, the nurses I know seem to hate their jobs. Not necessarily hating the patient care, but hating the paperwork, stress, long hours, and 100+ other things that the job involves in addition to patient care.

I suggest to anyone that is interested in nursing, that they ask themselves why. If they are interested in the field because they like the healthcare field and the idea of helping sick people, then I suggest they investigate other health care disciplines. Physical Therapists, Occupationaly Therapists, and Speech Pathologists all have positions that are hands-on helping positions. And I think that sometimes the rewards are better, because you can really get a grasp for the patients' improvement.

nope

i,ve been a RN for about 2 years and im till paying the bills from school of course but if its something you really want to do you really should go for it. Because then you will be stuck in a job you realy dont want to do. I absolutly love my job. Is school hard sometimes it was.

no but a friend is and its rewarding if that's what you want and schooling takes years there's always loads to learn all the time

I used to be a nurse, now I'm a teacher, but I still think that the years I did my nurse training were the happiest in my life. Yes, it is hard work, but it can be the best job in the world and you will always have work- go for it!
If you're wondering, I left because after twenty-five years I was sick of shift work.

yes its hard money not good you have to be dedicated

The schooling is a lot of science and mathematics so if this isn't a skill that you have acquired it might be difficult. The need for nurses especially skilled Rn's is high so you will always have job security, and a good pay scale. If you have any convictions on your record I wouldn't go into the program without discussing it with a school guidance counselor. If I were you I would volunteer at a hospital or nursing home and see if you feel rewarded by the work. If you are and you feel that this is something you would like to do, then go for it.
