The Doc will put you on a table that has stirrups for your feet so you can spread your legs. The doc will examine your breasts, anus, and vagina/vulva to see if everything female is ok with you. The Doc will put lubricating jelly on a plastic instrument called a speculum and gently insert it into your vagina. Once in, the speculum is spread apart so the doctor can see inside your vagina, even all the way to your cervix. Try not to tighten up and just relax..It won't be painful if you do. It's not something that you will want to happen everyday but if you relax it won't be too uncomfortable. I worked at a health dept. and the Doctor would sometimes send the patient back home to cleanse herself, so make sure you are clean and if you are well trimmed, the doc can get a much better look at your vulva (outside genitals of the vagina).
