Because they can.
Some people just look for a chance to sue someone and the dr. if they can't find someone else to sue . they are out for the money. I know some people that take advantage of people for their own gain and most of the time they gain nothing. they have to prove that they have legal grounds for their actions. and Some win and most loose. I think it is so wrong Dr. have many years of schooling to get where they are. so unless there is a real valid reason please let them get on with hard earned lives.

In America, a doctor is held in high esteem. He/she takes an oath to "do no Harm." We have access to some of the best medical equipment the world has to offer. When a doctor knows he's/she's in over the head, they don't always refer the patient to another doctor who can help.
This is because all American's have overinflated egoes.
