Question:
and if so,,which one,my doctor has given me prozac which is increasing my appetite,,im feeling worse having to deal with weight gain,,hope you can help
Answers:
I have been on a 20 mg. dosage of Paxil now for 10 years. As a 49 year young woman who is well into periomenopause, I have not experienced an weight gain nor any side effects with Paxil. Paxil has not only helped my depression but has also made the requisite hot flashes and night sweats a lot less severe for me as a woman in what is pre-menopause. Many of my girlfriends report terrible hot flashes and night sweats.Paxil has given me the benefit of not having hardly any of these symptoms. Young people on Paxil who follow a healthy diet and exercise should not have any weight gain problems.

nope.sorry.hope you feel better

efexor is great I'm loosing weight already

I was on paxil for a year with no weight increase. I was actually less hungry than usual. But paxil had an odd effect of uncontrolable yawning that never went away and i finally just got off it. Zoloft does the same thing to me.

I'm not sure that there is one without that side effect, my guess is that there probably isn't but just ask your doc

Work out routines can act as an anti-depressant and by definition they keep weight off, and help manage stress. It has something to do with the levels of endorphins and dopamine.

Rather than meds.try one of those more full service gyms that have nutritionists ans personal trainers. Tell them how you are feeling and have them recommend any dietary changes and excercise. Having set appointments with a trainer will keep you on task and you will be less likely to wimp out.

Prozac didn't work for me either. My doc switched me to Zoloft and other than the first 2wks of getting used to it I feel Soooooooo Much better. Not only have I not gained any weight, I have more motivation to get out more so I'm getting more exercise and things are really going well these days.
I pray for the same for you,
Good Luck

Try St Johns Wort it's natural and works.

Interestingly enough, an unlabeled use for Prozac is to help with weight loss. My friend, please speak to your doctor about this adverse effect. There are many other antidepressants to choose from and significant weight gain is not always a side effect. And a word of advice, it would be wise to avoid taking herbal preparations.

I'm a nurse.

Yes, Lexapro. I lost weight using it, because I felt better and my chemical embalance was more controlled and I wasn't so tired out and down.so I ate less and I had the desire to go out and excercise more.

Tis the joyous side effects of a low thyroid . LOL!!

I was once diagnosed as having depression and put on drug therapy. Celexa, 20 mg bid. I didn't put on weight or lose any weight. Totally neutral.

Paxil (paroxetine) It will not change your appetite and it has very few side effects. Check it out: www.paxil.com

celexa and effexor brings down weight

my friend takes wellbutrin and is skinny.
