After thyroid surgery, is weight gain usual?!
Question:
Answers:
If you have radioactive treatment/ablation, your thyroid will no longer function. Then (after a few weeks) you will receive Synthroid (not the generic please, too much variation) to replace your thyroid hormone. Your endocrinologist will keep tight tabs on your TSH and T4/T3 levels. With good control, you might gain some at first, but overall shouldn't. You need to let your endocrinologist know if you have hypothyroid symptoms: tired/fatigue, gaining weight, trouble with memory, coarse hair, constipation etc.
