is it dangerouse to just stop using oxycotton ir should you cut down slow-using!

Question:
want to stop drugs no NA OR AA
Answers:
Absolutely. If you decide to go cold turkey, then you need to be in a detox situation of some sort, with professionals keeping a close eye on your vitals. Seriously. If you try to gradually stop you might be okay. But it's gonna suck at first for a long time. Detox isn't treatment, only a place to dry or clean out for the worst part of with drawl.

It is highly addicive. Just ask Rush Limbaugh.
You may want to go to NA and ask some questions.

If you are talking about you being a drug abuser, then I would seek professional help. Even a trusted family doctor. If you have been prescribed them for pain, then again, talk to your doctor.

I had been on Kadian, which is morphine, for pain. When I wanted to get myself off them and deal with the pain instead of being hooked or in a state of confusion all the time, I asked my doctor to get me off them. She weaned me down from them. For example: For 5 days, stay at the dose that you are at, then another 5 days with one less, and so on. Every 5 days, decrease your intake by one dose, and making your last 5 days at half a dose. It is safer for the body and you won't suffer as much on DT's. Still be prepared to have some disorientation and nausea..

Good luck, whatever your situation is.wise choice!

You can go "cold turkey" but it really isn't a pretty sight and depending on a great many factors you may harm yourself. Lowering the dosage is the way to go and then the frequency.

I applaud you for realizing that you need to do this and agree that NA and/or AA isn't for everyone. My daughter did the "cold turkey" route and it has worked for several years. The biggest hurdle to clear in stopping any addiction is making the decision to stop doing it and following through. If you can't do this on your own, do, however, consider one of the 12 step programs or a local rehab or detox center.

I lost my best friend two years ago to heart failure which was directly attributed to Oxycontin use. I live in a small rural community and I personally know of 5 deaths in the last couple of years from Oxycontin. And this isn't taking into consideration the long term effects of the drug. Good luck in your recovery..I know you'll make it!
