How much pacreatic pancrelipase is necessary to ingest with a meal contaning 3 k!
Question:
This person has had 5 acute pacreatitus attacks in the last 4 yrs with the last occuring 1.5 years ago. Twice in same time period there was a 4 cm psuedocyst that dissolved on its own. The last one confirmed gone one year ago. Adult male 44 yrs. old. Steattorhea presently diagnosed for past 3 years. No blockages in pancreatic duct & no other masses present. Healthy male, but lost approx. 1 lb.of body weight per month over last 12 months. BMI is 22 and dropping to "unhealthy" status seems inevitable.Current weight is 156 lbs. on his 6'0" frame. All bloodwork is negative. Concern over his absorption of "fat soluble" vitamins: A,D,E,& K and "essential fatty acids". Low Vitamin D levels confirmed 6 months ago. No pain reported since last "attack" 1.5 years ago. He is consuming >3000 kcals/day with appropriate carbs, protein, and following a low-fat diet protocol. No other health concerns reported in past 12 months.
