Question:
I always think degenerative diease is due to personality, life style, habits, regional. related. When people said genetics factor is crucial, but I think genes are also a history of how we or or ancestor live and evolve, I would like to have a poll or something that people could reflect that from the alzhemier patience they know. Prevention is always better than cure and I dont think medicine will do any help in foreseeable future.
Answers:
Progressive degeneration of the brain resulting in the reduction of mental and social functioning and requiring daily supervision. Some insurers do not cover other organic brain disorders and psychological illnesses while others require the client to need a minimum of eight hours of daily supervision. Progressive mental deterioration characterized by confusion, disorientation, loss of memory, impaired ability to calculate, and visual-spatial deficits. It usually begins in late middle life and results in death in 5-10 years. Alzheimer's accounts for some 60-70% of senile dementias.

My dad has Alzheimer's. He was a car salesman and he knew just about every car he'd ever sold and the details. He'd meet someone he sold a car to ten years earlier, remember everything about the car and the trade-in. He could sometimes recognize a car he'd sold if it drove by--especially if he saw the license plate. My point is that he used his brain extensively and had a great memory.
He and my mom take walks almost every night and have for over 20 years. He eats a low-fat diet. He's only mildly overweight.
And yet he got Alzheimer's anyway--dianosed at age 62. And his maternal aunt (age 86) died of it just after he got diagnosed.
It's great that you can sit back and say it's due to lifestyle. That's your theory. When you see someone you love, who was smart and funny and healthy, degenerating right before your eyes, I'm sure your first thought will be prevention and not cure.
