Can the birth control pill cause mild feelings of depression?!

Question:

Answers:
Yes it can, depression's one of the listed side effects of birth control pills. Physhicians consider that the main side effects (depression, increased apetite therefore sometimes weight gain, decreased sexual drive) should last for no longer than 3 months after starting the administration of birth control pills.
When i started taking these pills, i did experience mild depression during the first 2-3 months but then everything went back to normal. However, not all women taking pills will experience these side effects.

Yes, they can!

Sometimes though rarely. The increase or decrease in estrogen or progesterone can affect the natural chemical balance in your system in rare cases.

Please go see your doctor and explain the situation.
You might just need a different kind of birth control.

yes!! it really depends on whos taking it i had to change brands several times because he hormone dosage was to high and i would constantly get sick. as for the depression, it really does cause depression, it is really mild but still depression is depression

Yes, it's quite possible. The contraceptive pills are made from hormones & hormones can alter a persons mental state. If it's causing you a problem, go & see your doctor coz there are hundreds of different contraceptive pills on the market & there's bound to be one that suits you better.

Yes, I think it can. You might need to switch to a different brand or formulation. Ask your Dr. Also read the info. paper, they should have included one with your packet of pills.

The answer is yes, yes and YES! I never could take those pills. I got sooooo depressed every time.

I have never had any trouble with depression (even after chemotherapy which is a classic cause of depression) unless I was taking birth control pills.

I tried to take them several times in my life. The same thing happened every time. I'd be in a puddle in the middle of the floor crying before long. Three days after I stopped taking them, the sun would come out and the birds would start singing and it would be a beautiful day. Go figure..

Yes. I've been on the pill for a few months and I have noticed I have the roller coaster effect. I asked my doctor and she said that yes sometimes the pill can cause depression and mood swings. I started taking a lower dose and that has helped.
