Do you have an irregular period?!

Question:
I come on for 3-4 months straight, then the rest of the year nothing. I hate taking pills to control it, what else is there?
Answers:
I used to have very irregular periods. I had maybe 4 periods a year. If that. I thought it was awesome but my mom (who had 17 periods a year didn't), so she put me on birth control.

I know bc pills can be a witch, but your irregular periods can be caused by unusual hormone levels which are treated with hormones. It isn't that bad taking 1 pill a day. Plus, if you go to a family planning program, they'll cover your perscription.

I do think you should go to the doctor and just check and make sure everything is alright. I went off bc awhile ago. At first I had some periods but then there was nothing. For six months. I went in and was diagnosed with PCOS. I will now be on bc pills for an indfinate time and may not be able to conceive without the use of fertility drugs.

Just go in and make sure everything is in working order.

sorry i cant answer coz i am a male.

Period abnormalities can be due to a number of different things, and if it's hormonal the only choices you have to regulate is with hormones. There is an herb called Chasteberry (Vitex) that some women use that can help.

This is perfectly normal. I have a couple of friends who just have an irregular period. It's something they curse for the three months but are dancing around because they get the rest of the year off! If it's been like that for years just go with it, if it has just begun or your "new" at this there is a chance it could become regular again. Talk to a doctor if it really bothers you about other options available to you.

I have always had irregular periods from the start. I went to the doctor after I got married and did not have a period for one full year. They found out that I have PCOS and put me on birth control. It does help. I didn't like the pill but I take the Ortho Evra Patch and it works great. I don't have the same problems with it that I had with BC. I was on 6 different BC before we found this one. Talk to your doc.
