are there health problems if you cut fingernails too short?!

Question:

Answers:
I started treating myself to pedicures and manicures lately. and learned you should not let the manicurist clip your CUTICLES, as these are a natural defense against infection under your fingernail. The young ladie's answer about diabetics is also correct.

i hope not! i always keep my fingernails really short.

I don't know of "health problems" specifically, but if you do cut them TOO short, they will bleed like crazy and be quite sore for a few days! It would be like any open cut or wound anywhere on your body, it's always open for infection.

The only risk would be infection or if you are a Diabetic it can cause you problems if you cut your actual finger.

Yes. you can't pop zits and they can become sores and get infected. Then you could get staff infection and die.So PLEASE don't cut your nails to short.

they hurt

if you cut the skin underneath the nail it's possible to get infection. -But just having short nail - no. My brother keeps his very short.

THE ONLY HEALTH PROBLEM IS PAIN

no.

umm i hope there is none. my fingernails are kept short.. omg! im a diabetic.. are those things really tru?

no, no problems health wise, but take care not to cut the skin in the process, also, ensure it is done correctly so you do not end up with ingrown nail ands, very painful.

I am a nurse, I know

Short fingernails are fine. Just don't cut them so short they bleed or cut the cuticles too deep. It may increase the risk of infection with a break in the skin.

no but there r if u keep them too long

not rele unless you cut your skin or something! idk

not really, it predisposes you to infeccions by bacteria and fungus. you dont want a fungus!! the nail changes colors and it falls out

I keep my fingernails short but not that short that will make my nails to be ingrown. That is the possible health problem you may encounter and it really hurts. Also, it can affect you appearance when it comes to nails.

No, thats a wives tale. The most damage you will do is uncover your nail beds and then they could get infected or something, but I am sure its not like you are cutting the whole nail off.

No, unless you cut them till your finger bleeds, then bacteria can cause an infection on your fingers. You wouldn't want that. So be careful.
