Using Sleep as a drug?!

Question:
Someone told me that I use sleep as a drug. wth does that mean?

btw I didn't know where else to put this question.
Answers:
In the same way that some people use drugs or alcohol to escape from their problems, some people just sleep all day and take naps when things get hard. I think it's related to somnolence, which is a symptom of depression and causes people to go into sleep overdrive.

Other Answers:
Maybe, if you get enough sleep, or take a nap, you will feel better, and not need drugs, or will not feel so run down.

People use all kinds of things to get thru depression and anxiety--alcohol,drugs,sex,etc. Sleeping is just another way to escape. Try changing your diet, get more exercise and maybe a talk with the family doctor. There are legal medications to help your body produce seretonin-which elevates your moods and helps with depression. Not all medications are for everyone - so you may have try more than 1 until you find what works for you.

Several diseases are clearly linked to poor sleep. Examples include fibromyalgia, depression, and many other. Proper night sleep is sometimes only what is needed in such circumstances.
