A good full body strength training workout 3 days a week would work (i.e.: lift weights). It doesn't have to be fancy. A cheap set of dumbbells from Wal-Mart would work great.

And don't worry about getting too big and buff. Nobody "accidently" gets as big as a bodybuilder. It takes several years to get a body like that. Assuming you are not a vampire, I'm sure you have mirrors in you house. When you get to a point you like, and don't want to get any bigger, you just back off your routine to a maintenance mode. Do the same workout once a week.
