Bursitus of Knee. Has a cortisone injection helped bursitis of the knee. If so,!

Question:

Answers:
A bursa is a fluid filled sack which acts as a cushion at pressure points around the body, often near a joint.
Bursitis is the inflammation of the Bursa, causing pain and swelling. This may be from pressure, friction, infection or slight injury to the membrane surrounding the joint.
Bursitis knee or Prepatellar Bursitis is normally caused by prolonged kneeling on hard surfaces. Avoiding further pressure and taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are usually all the treatment needed.
However, occasionally Cortisone injections may be prescribed if the pain is persistent. These are synthetic corticosteroid drugs which are injected directly into the joint and reduce inflammation, thus relieving the pressure from within the joint.
