I am sure that it is important to you that your friend has been able to trust you, so you probably do not want to share her secret and betray that trust. But anorexia is a very dangerous thing and she will need help that you are not qualified to give her and it is imperative that she receive treatment. I do not know the extent of her condition, so it could be that she has not suffered significant physical damage yet (hopefully this is the case!). But even so, she will need treatment, even if it is only counseling, to help her break the cycle and learn how to control her disease. Try encouraging her to tell a parent, a family member or a doctor. You could offer to go with her if that would help her feel more secure and if you feel able to help support her as a friend. If she continues to refuse, however, eventually you must tell someone who can intercede. Betraying her trust is not nearly as bad as allowing her to destroy her body and possibly kill herself. You could try contacting the eating disorders hotline at 800-227-4785 for additional advice and support. Good luck.

Other Answers:
You should tell her doctor or someone that can help and only someone that can help, it's okay if your friend gets pist off at you because you told someone, she will thank you for helping her because anorexia is dangerous, she can even starve herself to death an will begin to have serious medical problems.

I read a lot and plan to become a doctor one day.

You need to tell someone or in the long run she could dye it will cause her heart to fail and cause all kinds of problems with her lungs. It will cause all kinds of problems she will get upset with you but she will thank you later . God bless you for caring.

tell it directly and immediately to her parents. In fact the family might already have paid attention to her loss of weight and vomits, it's a difficult thing to hide these apparent symptoms..So even if they haven't noticed anything at all, they can pretend like they have been suspecting this sickness long before and they can tell her they have figured it out on their own simply by following the clues, or they can say they have been worrying about her for a long time etc. (to iniate a self confession)and take her to a doctor as quick as they can. So no responsability is loaded on your shoulders..

How old is she and how long has it been going on?

Tell her parents. They should take her to a doctor specialised in eating disorders.
