You could be having a reaction from the oils from other people if it's just public pools. Now if it's all treated pools then you are allergic to the chemicals.

I get the same thing. Public pools tend to overdo it on the chlorine. Now, this doesn't mean that you are allergic, just that your body/skin cannot take the amount they are using.

It is probably from the excessive amount of chlorine used a long with other chemicals that they put in the water. Some public pools will add an extra chemical in the water because of people that like to urinate in the swimming pool(not being funny either)
If you are getting hives on your body I don't recommend using a public pool anymore. BECAUSE it is an allergic reaction and just because it is from contact doesn't mean that it is not dangerous.
Talk to your doctor and see if there is some type of remedy that he can offer you and maybe scratch tests need to be run as well

The pool could be dirty. People can urinate in these pools and nobody is there to catch them doing that. So to avoid swimming in dirty water, get to know the days they change clean water for the pools. Then you can safely swim after that. Another way is to apply antiseptic lotion before your bath after swimming. This will help in a way to prevent bacteria from attacking your body. You also may have sensitive skin, take more Vit C daily and also an allergy cream will help too.
maybe you allergic to the chlorine water in the pool,ihave eczema so chlorine water aggravates it,ialways have to shower and put medicated cream on as soon as i get out of the pool,you should go to the dermatologist,hives are usually and allergy of some kind.

it happens 2 me 2.. its fr all d dirt present in d pool & fr d strong chlorine they use..
