Yeah it is painful, and might be for a while. Chances are you have some deep bruises on your butt or beneath the skin. These take a while to heal. Tylenol will help in the meantime. I fell off a ladder,a couple of years ago, just as I swung my leg up on my lower roof. I went straight back and landed full force on my butt, on an asphalt drive way! The black and bluing started almost immediately on my back side and as the days went by it continued to travel. For ten days the discoloration expanded until my entire lower body, including both legs were black and blue. There wasn't much pain, except for the initial impact area, but lots of discoloration. Then, about two weeks after the fall the discoloration began to recede, and within two days it had practically disappeared. That was two years ago and I've had no ill effects from the fall except for a slight indent on my butt. Go figure!

yeah.some idiot thought it would be funny to pull the chair away from me while im sitting down..

I did it once when roller skating and it took months before it didn't hurt.

yes it kills like nothin youve ever felt before!

Yeah, once I slipped on some ice. It hurt for weeks afterwards, especially in karate class!

Oh yes and it sux! I did it over a year and a half ago and still cannot ride in a car very long without it hurting. I also can't sit in certain positions long or do situps because it causes me to "roll" up on the tailbone which HURTS LIKE HELL!! I don't know how long it's gonna take to get back to normal.beginning to think never :(

I broke mine and had to run around with a cushion for a month. It made me walk like a cowboy.BUM Deal lol

Yes it hurts and to be sure if it is brused only it still takes some time for the tenderness to heal cold pack for 20 min then off do on and off. If you feel lots of pain after a week or so you should seek a medical so they can take a scan your back is everything and as you age it needs to be in the best shape. Grandma T

OUCH! During my younger years I was playing outside with my younger sis and bro (playing tag) and it had just finished raining. So I'm running and step directly on a moss-covered rock that was buried in the ground with only the top smooth surface exposed (I think it was used as an old stepping stone). The way I fell, I happened to land directly on that same spot where the stone was..

Talk about pain! Couldn't set straight for weeks!! Now the very tip of my tailbone curves inward.
