to eat before or after excercise?!

Question:

Answers:
I have heard that the best thing to do is eat an hour before you plan to exercise.

Other Answers:
after

before not after.

after, wait at least 20 minutes though

after because your metabolism is faster then. if you eat before.. your tummy will hurt

eat protein about 30 minutes before your workout

After always.

a little before, a little more after

Sure, you could eat after, your metabolism would be higher, but it wouldn't burn it immediately as if you ate before, but if you do eat before, wait a little bit though because it will make your stomach ache if you don't let your food settle, then as you swaet and burn ernergy, calories are being burned directly and it helps better.

It doesn't matter. You're going to consume the same amount of calories anyway, and you're body's going to burn as much anyway, so it REALLY DOESN'T MATTER! Ask any doctor. I always eat after, though, to avoid stomach upset.

after

After.if before 2 things may happen.cramps or you will be to full to work out and just want to be LAZY!

I think it is better to eat before you excercise because I want to burn off the food I eat. Not to mention, you can excercise longer because you have fuel in your body if you excercise after eating.

AFTER

Depends on goal

I am running a marathon in 3 weeks

I plan on eating a banana and a whole wheat bagle with cheese 1 hour before.

I also plan on eating everyting I can get after.

Long exercise requires fuel.

eating right before slows performance - all blood rushes to the intestines to improve absroption , reflux, cramps. Small amounts 30 to 60 min before exercise.

After, go to town. enjoy!

you eat about 1 hour after exercise because if you eat immediately you will absorb all of material and get weight

You cannot burn off what is in your stomach. It takes several hours to digest your meal. Only then can you burn off the calories of that meal. I always eat after a workout. It is my reward for exercising.

I generally eat about 2 hours before I work out. It gives me enough energy and also enough time for the food to settle. After (especially if you are doing heavy lifting) protein is really important to help your muscles repair.

You should wait at least an hour after eating a meal before exercising. If it's been a couple of hours or more since you ate, a good protein bar 15 or 20 minutes before exercising would be good. Then, immediately after the workout, drink a protein drink.

It's better to eat after excercise.

Both, depends on you. I need to wait at least an hour after eating before doing a cardio workout, otherwise my tummy hurts. It is good to eat a small meal after working out. Helps the metabolism and I am always starved after. But then again my gym routine is almost 2 -3 hours. SO.

Both.

You should intake some sort of enery source before any exercise, to fuel your exercise. There is no fixed amount of time before a workout you should eat, most likely it will depend on what you eat, and how long it takes the body to process it and turn it into useable energy. Also depending on the type of exercise you do and its duration you should eat something that will give you constant energy for that exercise period.

After your exercise you should take in some sort of simple carbohydrate, such as a gatorade or orange juice. This is because during exercise your body depletes the muscles of glycogen, the main energy source of the body. Simple carbohydrates are broken down into glycogen fast and so is logical to replace the depleted glycogen as soon as possible. You should also combine this with some sort of protien to replace any broken down muscle during the exercise.
