how long can you keep amoxicillin? pill form?!

Question:

Answers:
Most medication, in pill form, is good for one year from the date purchased . then it's abilities start to diminish.

Other Answers:
in the freezer.. indefinitely. over time they loose potency at room temps but they are still OK.Freezing them? A year or two. if they are new this will put them in stasis and they will be pretty much as good as they were new for a very long time.

The other answers are true, but you need to remember that it's very important if you're being treated for an infection that you take the entire course of the medicine. Usually doctors prescribe what you need to take to knock out the infection. If you don't take the whole course, you could wind up with a strain of bacteria that won't respond to amoxicillin anymore.

Except in rare circumstances, as I understand it, you really shouldn't have any amoxicillin around the house unless you're being treated for something.

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic and normally is prescribed for a period of time no more than 10 days. Antibiotics should be taken for the duration. You should not have any left over. But there is an expiration date on all medications and when in doubt throw out. You can also refer to your pharmacists.
